Installing LED headlights – instructions with video for KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas & other models
Properly installing LED headlights on a Supermoto
An LED headlight improves visibility and gives your supermoto a modern look.
In this article, we show step by step how the installation works – including a video tutorial.
The installation shown here is based on a KTM model. Depending on the motorcycle, the mounting bracket or connectors may differ slightly.
1. Preparation before installation
Before the start:
- Turn off the ignition
- Optionally disconnect the battery
- Remove old headlights
- Check plug connections
Clean and dry contacts are crucial for reliable operation.
2. Remove the old headlight
- Release mask fastening
- Carefully disconnect the plug connection.
- Remove original headlights
Make sure that cables are not damaged or pinched.
3. Connect LED headlights
The LED headlight is connected via existing plug connections.
- Connect the plugs correctly
- Lay cables neatly
- Adjust headlights
- Secure the fastening
Some models may require minor adjustments to the connectors.
Suitable models might include:
- KTM EXC / SMCR / SX
- Husqvarna FE / SM
- GasGas EC / SM

4. Functional test after assembly
After installation:
- Turn on the ignition
- Check dipped beam headlights
- Check high beam
- Check parking lights
If the headlight does not work:
- Check plug connections
- Check ground connection
- Check the on-board voltage (12V).
5. Moisture in the LED headlight
Short-term condensation can occur in rare cases due to strong temperature differences.
However, persistent moisture inside is not common and should be checked.
In this case:
- Check the seal
- Check the casing for damage.
- Check plug connections for moisture
